How Do We Create Customer Data Platforms Using Design Thinking?

  • Empathize

    The first step in building a successful data platform is to understand and empathize the current situation. To achieve this, Koeerü’s design, development, and business teams work together with clients to identify lead users that can be observed and interviewed--giving us insights into the current situation, from data collection to utilization.

  • Define

    Based on what we discover during the Empathize phase, we define the motivational issues that prevent the effective collection, processing, and use of voice of consumer data. These blockages vary based on client, but can include data silos, inefficiencies, and motivational asymmetries.

  • Ideate

    After defining the problem, we ideate (brainstorm) ideal voice of consumer data solutions with our clients—designing platforms that really matter. At this stage we work on creating ideal data flows that solve the problems that each user encounters, and share the differences between the end goal and the current situation.

  • Prototype

    Rather than creating a finished product in the first go, we build out prototypes of what we brainstormed during the Ideate phase. These prototypes have a minimum level of necessary functions, and they allow us to understand potential future issues that might arise—from the data collection stage all the way to the use stage. If a function is necessary that we don’t have in our existing products, we’ll develop it from scratch for our clients.

  • Test

    After completing our prototype, we test the results. The entire design thinking process is repeated again and again, gradually improving existing functions, adding new ones, and expanding the client’s overall data infrastructure. By repeating this cycle of Ideate-Prototype-Test, we can build a more sustaintable and suitable product than one developed through traditional means.
