On January 21, 2025, Koeeru COO Michael McDowell participated in a roundtable exchange with Mr. Ramsaroop, Director of the Investment Agency under the Office of the President of Guyana. The meeting took place during Mr. Ramsaroop’s official visit to Japan as part of a diplomatic invitation program led by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, coordinated through the Latin America and Caribbean Affairs Office of METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry).

Director Ramsaroop expressed strong interest in Japan’s advanced agricultural technologies, particularly how Japanese companies are contributing to sustainable farming practices. As a major agricultural hub in the Caribbean, Guyana is working to boost food self-sufficiency for both domestic and regional markets and is actively seeking innovative technologies to achieve this goal.

The seminar also touched on Guyana’s accelerating economic growth due to recent oil field discoveries, positioning the country as an increasingly attractive destination for international investment.

Koeeru shared insights from its Latin America-focused SDGs business, “Mi Mercado Verde,” a digital platform designed to support smallholder farmers. The session provided valuable opportunities for dialogue on how Japanese agricultural innovation—combined with Koeeru’s data-driven approach—could support agricultural transformation in Guyana.

Through this exchange, new possibilities for collaboration emerged, with both parties recognizing the potential for Koeeru’s solutions to support inclusive growth and sustainable development in Guyana.
